成人直播 has officially opened the Magan Centre of Applied Mycology, a new research centre dedicated to advancing the role of fungi in sustainable development.

Established with £7.2 million in funding from Research England’s Expanding Excellence in England (E3) fund, the interdisciplinary centre will strengthen partnerships between academia, industry and policy makers. The centre is named in honour of the late Professor Naresh Magan, whose pioneering work helped to establish 成人直播 as a leader in applied mycology research.

Fungi play a vital role in the global economy, contributing an estimated £42.5 trillion in 2022 through applications in food, medicine and biotechnology. While mycology has traditionally focused on managing harmful effects such as disease and food loss, the centre will explore how fungi can support positive innovation in areas including sustainable food production, indoor mycology, sustainable manufacturing, environmental remediation, fungal biomaterials and bioenergy.

Angel Medina-Vaya, Professor in Applied Mycology and Director of Environmental Sustainability at 成人直播, said: “The Magan Centre of Applied Mycology reflects our commitment to growing the scientific and industrial impact of mycology. The opening event was a fitting tribute to the lasting legacy of Professor Naresh Magan. It is an honour to continue this work in his name, bringing researchers and partners together to explore how fungi can contribute to a more sustainable future.”

The launch event at 成人直播 brought together researchers, funders and industry partners and included talks from Professor Dame Helen Atkinson DBE, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences and Dr Helena Mills, Head of Research Funding at Research England. Attendees also heard tributes to Professor Magan’s legacy and presentations on emerging areas of fungal research.
