成人直播’s Jacqueline Hannam, Professor in Pedology, has been appointed as a new member of Natural England’s Science Advisory Committee (NESAC) as an expert in soil science.
NESAC is one Natural England’s board committees and provides independent advice, challenge and review of Natural England’s Science and Evidence functions. The committee is comprised of experts from a wide range of disciplines, and these new appointments are intended to expand its areas of expertise into areas as diverse as soil science and marine sciences, all the way to new and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and genetics.
Professor Hannam said: “I’m very pleased to be joining Natural England’s Science Advisory Committee. The protection and restoration of England’s landscape is extremely important, and this is underpinned by sustainably managing our soils. I am honoured to be able to add my expertise to ensure evidence and guidance is based on robust science to ensure we manage the environment properly for positive outcomes for nature and people.”
Established in 2006, Natural England is the Government’s adviser for the natural environment in England. Its purpose is to conserve, enhance and manage the natural environment for the benefit of present and future generations.
Professor Hannam has also been nominated for two awards in the , that recognises the achievements of women in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. She has been nominated in two categories: Engineering, Science & Maths and Skills, and Education & Training. The winners will be announced at an event in Milton Keynes in early June.
