Background

Ermonel Budo is a Research Assistant in Propulsion System Simulation within the Centre for Aeronautics, Propulsion and Power at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥, based at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Aero Systems Design, Integration and Performance. His research focuses on the modelling and performance analysis of conventional and next-generation gas turbine configurations, as well as the multi-disciplinary design of advanced propulsion systems, contributing to the transition towards sustainable, low-emission aviation. His work supports the development of simulation frameworks for future aero-engine architectures, alongside the implementation and validation of physics-based solvers to predict dynamic engine response at both component and system levels under fast transients and extreme off-design conditions.

Research opportunities

Ermonel's research interests focus on the following areas:

– Multi-fidelity propulsion system modelling

– Aero-engine performance assessment

– Off-design and extreme-condition engine behaviour analysis

– Development of steady-state and transient solvers for engine response

– Multi-disciplinary optimisation of propulsion systems

– Hydrogen integration in gas turbine architectures

– Turboelectric distributed propulsion systems

– Sustainable and zero-emission aviation technologies

– Propulsion system digital twins for performance prediction
