Background
Erin Doyle (Te Wh膩nau-膩-Apanui, Ng膩ti Porou) is currently working towards a PhD as part of the Connected Waters Leverhulme Doctoral Programme. Her research focuses on riverbed biofilms as indicators of river health.
Erin was previously employed as a molecular ecologist in Aotearoa/New Zealand. She contributed to a variety of research projects on topics including plant and lichen taxonomy, animal diet, invertebrate diversity and toxin sensitivity, and asbestos-associated biofilm characterisation.
Erin graduated from the University of Waikato with BSc and MSc degrees majoring in biology, and a Grad Cert majoring in writing studies. Her Master research included two projects, one attempting to develop a method for targeted species detection using environmental DNA from rivers, and the other, a year-long survey of the terrestrial invertebrates present in New Zealand鈥檚 temperate mangrove forests.
