Background
Dr Karthik Depuru-Mohan is a Lecturer at 成人直播, which is an academic provider to the UK鈥檚 Ministry of Defence. As a 成人直播 academic, he is now based at the Defence Academy of the UK. He performs research and teaching in the fields of aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, propulsion, and airworthiness for aerospace, defence, automobile, motorsport, UAV, and energy applications. To address global engineering challenges, he applies a balanced approach among experiment, computation, and theory. He is a Course Director of the Airworthiness for Military Aircraft Fundamentals (AMAC-F) short course and a Deputy Course Director of the Military Aerospace and Airworthiness (MAA) MSc course. He actively collaborates with academia, industry, regulatory authorities, and government departments.
Prior to joining 成人直播, he has performed research at the NASA Langley Research Center, German Aerospace Center, GE John F. Welch Technology Center, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Technical University of Berlin, and Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He was seconded to the UK Government to work on a project as part of developing the evidence base for the 2015 Spending Review. He has examined how 20 countries fund research and innovation, and mapped their approaches, and proposed recommendations for the UK. He was invited to present his work on research and innovation policies at the Global Science and Innovation Forum. He was awarded the UKRI Policy Support grant to work on transport policy to reduce pollutant dispersion and improve air quality in the UK.
He earned a PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Cambridge. He holds two US patents on gas turbine sealing and cooling technology. In recognition of his academic excellence, he has been awarded several prestigious fellowships and scholarships. He has published over 50 research articles in world-leading journals, international conferences, book chapters, and policy reports. One of his research papers was listed in the 10 most read articles of the AIAA Journal. He has been a Research Supervisor to over 25 PhD and MSc students. He has been a Teaching Supervisor to over 50 MEng students. He has been a reviewer for top journals such as the Physics of Fluids and AIAA Journal. He has been a senior member of learned societies such as the RAeS and AIAA. He has been a member of the EPSRC Peer Review College and the UKRI Talent Peer Review College. He also holds an honorary academic position at the University of Cambridge.
